How do I use my Theragun?

Here’s some basic best practices to get the most out of your Theragun, whether you’re treating yourself or others.


1. Always turn on the Theragun before placing it on the body.
2. If you have a G3PRO or G3, you can press the speed button to toggle between our signature treatment speed and our lighter speed for sensitive, sore areas.
3. For muscle activation, recovery, and tension relief, simply “float” the Theragun on muscles that need the most attention - it was designed to do all the work for you. Slowly glide the Theragun up and down the muscle, gradually applying light to moderate pressure as needed.
4. Breathe and relax and remember to stretch. It feels amazing!

Every Theragun has industry-leading ergonomics due to our patented Theragun Triangle® handle design. It’s three-sided, so you can hold the Theragun from any side a variety of ways, making it easier than ever to treat hard-to-reach areas like your back without strain on your hands, wrists, and forearms.

How long should I use my Theragun?

Depending on the desired result, we recommend using your Theragun for a minimum of 15 seconds and a maximum of 2 minutes per muscle group. A full-body session should not exceed 15 minutes. Treat yourself 2-3 times per day.


30 SECONDS = MUSCLE ACTIVATION

Prior to workouts or physical activity, float your Theragun for up to 30 seconds to instantly activate and “wake up” your muscles.

15 SECONDS = MUSCLE RE-ACTIVATION

Reactivate muscles during your workout or any activity by using your Theragun for 10-15 seconds on the muscle group. This will re-energize, relieve muscle spasms and fatigue, and keep muscles active.

2 MINUTES = PAIN RELIEF & RECOVERY

Float your Theragun for up to 2 minutes for muscle recovery post-workout to decrease soreness, and on any muscles that require immediate pain relief.

Can I travel with my Theragun?

When traveling with your G3PRO, Lithium-ion batteries must be stored in carry-on baggage only. When a carry-on bag is checked at the gate, all Lithium batteries must be removed from the bag and kept with the passenger in the aircraft cabin.

Since G3 and liv devices have a built-in Lithium-ion battery, it must be stored in your carry-on baggage only.

While you are able to travel with your Theragun device and accessories in your carry-on luggage, it is at the discretion of the TSA officer to allow it through. Please feel free to share our website and social media with them if they are unfamiliar with our device.

To have the Theragun device or a part repaired or replaced under warranty, it must be returned with freight prepaid and insured to Theragun. This warranty does not apply to damage that Theragun determines to be from repairs made or attempted by anyone other than Theragun authorized personnel, misuse, alterations, abuse, normal wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or accidents. Theragun does not authorize anyone, including, but not limited to, retailers, remote purchasers or the subsequent consumer purchaser of the product from a retailer to obligate Theragun in any way beyond the terms set forth herein.

This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or abuse, accident, liquids including but not limited to water or lotions, the attachment of any unauthorized accessories, alteration to the product, improper use, unauthorized repairs or modifications, improper use of electrical power supply, loss of power, variation in line voltage, dropped product, malfunction or damage of an operating part from failure to provide manufacturer's recommended maintenance, transportation damage, theft, neglect, vandalism or environmental conditions, loss of use during the period the product is at the Theragun repair facility or otherwise awaiting parts or repair or any other conditions whatsoever that are beyond the control of Theragun.

This warranty provided herein shall be the sole and exclusive warranty. There shall be no other warranties expressed or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness, or any other obligation on the part of the company with respect to products covered by this warranty. Theragun shall have no liability for any incidental, consequential or special damages. In no event shall this warranty require more than the repair or replacement of any part or parts which is found to be defective within the effective warranty period. No refunds will be given. If replacement parts for defective materials are not available, Theragun reserves the right to make product substitutions in lieu of repair or replacement.

This warranty does not extend to the purchase of opened, used, repaired, repackaged and/or resealed products, including but not limited to the sale of such products on Internet auction sites and/or sales of such products by surplus or bulk resellers. Any and all warranties or guarantees shall immediately cease and terminate as to any products or parts thereof which are repaired, replaced, altered, or modified without the prior express and written consent of Theragun, Inc.

This warranty provides you with specific legal rights. You may have additional rights, which may vary from state to state. Because of individual state regulations, some of the above limitations and exclusions may not apply to you.

This warranty is effective for all Theragun products purchased through a Theragun website within the timelines covered. Any modifications or adaptation to enable it to operate in any other country are not covered under this warranty.

How do I update the address on my order?

What is your return policy?

We want you to love your Theragun as much as we do. If there is any reason you are not satisfied with your Theragun, you have 30 days to return it with a money-back guarantee.

1. Returns are accepted within the first 30 days from the date of purchase. If you are within your first 30 days, please reach out to our Customer Experience Team via email at info@theragun.com.
2. Once we receive your email, a member of our team will provide you with a Return Authorization Form to complete and send back to us. The form MUST be included with your return. Please keep in mind, we do not cover the shipping cost for the returned device. We advise that you hold onto your tracking information as we are not responsible for lost packages by the carrier.
3. Once we receive the return device to our warehouse, it will take approximately 2 business day to process a refund.
4. Once we issue the refund, it can take 5-7 business days for it to reflect in your original method of payment.

All orders US orders must ship returns to Long Beach, California, USA. Exact return addresses will be provided by our customer experience team during the return process.

G3PRO

If you experience any issues with your G3PRO, try the following solutions:

Difficulty turning on the G3PRO

Please ensure that the battery is fully charged. Each battery takes approximately 75 minutes to completely charge.

If your device will not turn on with either fully charged battery, and the battery is correctly inserted, your device may need to be replaced. Please send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Make sure to include the serial number and the order number in the email. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Unable to remove the battery

To remove the battery, push up the sliding button to release the battery from the device. If you are still unable to remove the battery, please send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Make sure to include the serial number and the order number in your email. We will be more than happy to assist you.

The G3PRO is overheating

The G3PRO will naturally get warmer during extended use. However, if your G3PRO is overheating or feels too hot for normal use, stop using immediately and send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Make sure to include the serial number and the order number in your email. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Unable to change the arm position

If you are experiencing any issues while trying to adjust the arm of your G3PRO, make sure you are completely pushing in the black button, located in the middle of the metal blue plate. If you have done this and you are still unable to adjust the arm of the G3PRO, please send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Make sure to include the serial number and the order number in your email. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Difficulty turning on the G3

Please ensure that the battery is fully charged. The battery of the G3 takes approximately 100 minutes to completely charge. LEDs on the G3 display the battery life. They will begin flashing when the battery needs to be charged. When the LEDs stop flashing and all are on, the battery is fully charged.

Keep in mind that while charging the G3 has a security feature that prevents it from turning on. Make sure your device is not plugged in when you turn it on.

If your device will not turn on with either fully charged battery, your device may need to be replaced. Please send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. The G3 is overheating

If you experience any issues with your liv, try the following solutions:

Difficulty turning on the liv

Press and hold the power button to turn on the liv.

Make sure the battery is fully charged. The battery of the liv takes approximately 70 minutes to completely charge. LEDs on the liv display the battery life. They will begin flashing when the battery needs to be charged. When the LEDs stop flashing and all are on, the battery is fully charged.

Keep in mind that while charging, the liv has a security feature that prevents it from turning on. Make sure your device is not plugged in when you turn it on.

If your device will not turn on with either fully charged battery, your device may need to be replaced. Please send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Make sure to include the serial number or the order number in the email. We are more than happy to help.

The liv is overheating

The liv will naturally get warmer during extended use. Please keep in mind that if you use the device in very hot environments, the device will get hotter faster.

However, if your liv is overheating or feels too hot for normal use, stop using immediately and send our Customer Experience Team an email at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Make sure to include the serial number or the order number in your email. We’re here to help.

Difficulty charging your liv

If the liv is overheating and you try to charge it, the charging process may not start. Please, wait for the device to cool down. If the problem persists, please contact our Customer Experience Team at info@theragun.com describing your issue. Include the serial number or the order number in your email. We’ll get you sorted right away.

Attachments

We highly recommend replacing your liv’s Attachments every 60-90 days.

Safety

Before using or charging the Theragun or Lithium-ion batteries, read all instructions and cautionary markings in this manual, on the charger, on the battery, and on the Theragun. New batteries must be charged before first use.

  • The Theragun is intended for commercial or home use.
  • Do not place your finger or any objects near the metal piston above the attachment while the Theragun is in use or immediately after use. The metal piston can become extremely hot.
  • Do not use any Attachments or batteries other than the ones provided by Theragun and only as instructed by Theragun.
  • Do not use the Theragun above your Adam’s Apple or C4, on your head or near your genitals.
  • Do not get hair caught in the attachment arm or in any other moving part on the Theragun.
  • This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any diseases.
  • Do not use on open wounds or surgical incisions prior to stitches.
  • Do not get the Theragun wet other than by cleaning it with a magic eraser or a lightly damp towel.
  • Do not block the vents of the motor.
  • Do not reverse the polarity of the battery by inserting it upside down - only insert with the flat side facing the sliding button.
  • To extend the life of the battery, remove the battery from the charger once the light stops flashing.
  • If you are pregnant, please consult your physician before use.
  • This product is not meant to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease.

G3PRO Battery safety tips:

  • Never attempt to disassemble the battery.
  • Never store a battery in direct sunlight or at temperatures above 104°F. (40°C).
  • Only charge the battery when the ambient temperature is between 32°F (0°C) and 104°F (40°C).
  • Never expose the battery or charger to water.
  • For long-term storage, the battery should be fully charged.
  • Always remove after the light stays solid white.
  • Do not leave the battery in the charger overnight.
Important safety instructions

We strive to make the Theragun as safe as possible. This is an advanced mechanical tool with electric components. If the Theragun and its accessories are not used or maintained properly, there is a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury. When using the Theragun, these basic precautions should always be followed including:

USE ONLY AS INSTRUCTED. Use the G3PRO as described in this Instruction Manual. Use only Theragun recommended accessories and replacement parts. Do not carry out any maintenance other than as advised by Theragun.

NOT FOR CHILDREN. The G3PRO and charger are not intended for use by young children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or reasoning capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction by a responsible person. Do not allow the G3PRO to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the G3PRO or charger.

DO NOT PULL OUT THE BATTERY WHILE THE G3PRO IS ON.

REDUCING RISK OF INJURY. Charge the G3PRO only in Theragun G3PRO charger. Other chargers may cause personal injury or damage. Do not connect the G3PRO to a power supply plug or car cigarette lighter. The internal battery will be permanently disabled or damaged.

USE THE G3PRO ONLY WITH THERAGUN G3PRO BATTERIES. Use of other batteries may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury.

CHARGING LOCATIONS. The Theragun should be charged indoors in a well ventilated, dry location. Do not charge the Theragun outdoors, in a bathroom or within 10 feet (3.1 meters) of a bathtub, or pool. Do not use the Theragun or charger on wet surfaces and do not expose the charger to moisture, rain, or snow. Do not use the Theragun or charger in the presence of explosive atmospheres (gaseous fumes, dust, or flammable materials). Sparks may be generated, possibly causing a fire.

UNPLUGGING THE CHARGER. Pull the plug, not the cord, to reduce the risk of damage to the electrical plug and cord. Never carry charger by its cord. Keep the cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Do not use or charge with a damaged cord. Do not stretch the charger cord or place the cord under strain. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not handle the charger, including the charger terminals or Theragun with wet hands.

CHARGER CARE. Unplug the charger when not in use. Unplug the charger from the outlet when not in use for extended periods. Make sure the charger cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. Have a damaged charger replaced immediately.

DO NOT OVERCHARGE. Do not leave the battery in the charger for more than an hour after the battery has been fully charged. The battery includes a protection system to avoid the risk of overcharging. However, overcharging may reduce its life over time.

DO NOT BLOCK MOTOR VENTS. Do not put any obstructions into vents. Do not use if any vent is blocked. Keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow. Keep hair, loose clothing, and fingers from vents and moving parts.

DO NOT BURN OR INCINERATE THE THERAGUN OR ITS BATTERY. The battery may explode, causing personal injury or damage. Toxic fumes and materials are created when the battery is burned.

DO NOT CRUSH, DROP, OR DAMAGE THE G3PRO CHARGER. Do not use a charger that has received a sharp blow, been dropped, run over, or damaged in any way.

BATTERY CHEMICALS CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS. Never allow the internal battery to come into contact with the skin, eyes, or mouth. If a damaged battery leaks chemicals, use rubber or neoprene gloves to dispose of it. If skin is exposed to battery fluids, wash with soap and water and rinse with vinegar. If eyes are exposed to battery chemicals, immediately flush with water for 20 minutes and seek medical attention. Remove and dispose of contaminated clothing.

DO NOT SHORT CIRCUIT. A battery will short circuit if a metal object makes a connection between the positive and negative contacts on the battery or the 12V connector. A short-circuited battery may cause fire and personal injury.

DO NOT OPERATE UNDER BLANKET AND PILLOW. Excessive heating can occur and cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

STORING THE G3PRO AND CHARGER. Store in a cool, dry place. Only charge the G3PRO when the ambient temperature is between 0°C/32°F and 40°C/104°F. Do not store the G3PRO where temperatures may exceed 40°C/104°F such as in direct sunlight, in a vehicle, or metal building during the summer.

DISPOSING OF BATTERIES. The Theragun Lithium-ion batteries for the G3PRO are more environmentally friendly than some other types of batteries. Always dispose of the G3PRO according to federal, state, and local regulations. Contact a recycling agency in your area for recycling locations. Even discharged batteries contain some energy. Before disposing of, use electrical tape to cover the G3PRO’s 12V connector to prevent the battery from shorting, which could cause a fire or explosion.

DO NOT DISASSEMBLE. Disassembly or incorrect reassembly may result in the risk of electric shock, fire, or exposure to battery chemicals. The warranty will be void if the G3PRO, or charger are disassembled or if any parts have been removed.

SERVICE. If the G3PRO battery or charger is not working properly, has received a sharp blow, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, do not use and contact Theragun by emailing info@theragun.com for repair or service. Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the Theragun G3PRO which may result in an electric shock or fire.

DO NOT USE WHILE BATHING OR IN TUB OR SINK. Do not place the Theragun or charger where it can fall into a tub or sink. Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid. Do not reach for an appliance that has fallen into water. Unplug immediately.

THERMAL LIMITER. The Theragun has an automatic reset thermal limiter that shuts off the Theragun to prevent overheating and fire.
